Dear Letter From Your AYS Leader :
Dear Congregation,
As I accepted the position of being Mount Calvary’s AYS Leader, I realize that there were some challenges that I would be faced with. This year started of kind of slow, but its time to pick up the pace. When I took this position I knew that the biggest problem AYS will be face with is the lack of participation.
I had made an appeal to the congregation during youth day, encouraging them to come back to AYS. However, assessing the problem from a different angle, shade light on some of the causation of the lack of participation at AYS. I am not giving any excuses or trying to justify the reason of those that choose not to come back to AYS. I am simple asses a cause to the lack of participation, that has been expressed to.
I was informed that it was not that congregation didn’t feel like coming back to AYS, but it because they live miles away from the church, they have young children to tend to and gas prices are high. Understanding and empathizing with these families we derived a solution. We are establishing a new program called “The Buddy Family”. In this program, families that live in close proximity of the church who are willing to share their home, will open up their home to family that live further away giving them a place to relax before AYS.
I now challenge both families, families that are willing to open up their homes to their Church Families and to the families in need of a place to relax to see me your AYS Leader about the Program or an AYS Council member. Thank you.
