 Dr. Patrick Vincent elected Conference Executive Secretary

At its 9th Regular Session last Sunday, Mount Calvary's senior pastor, Dr. Patrick E. Vincent, was unanimously elected Executice Secretary of the Southeastern Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. Dr. Vincent, whose new responsibilities took immediate effect, has been the pastor of Mount Calvary since 2000.

The Session also elected Elder Hubert J. Morel to serve as the fifth President of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). Elder Morel replaced Elder Willie L. Taylor, who had been SEC President for 10 years.

Elder Morel had previously served as director of Church Ministries, went on to serve as the conference's Executive Secretary until his elevation to President of the Southeastern Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. The Session, which was held at Mount Calvary, also voted for Sister Gwendolyn T. Parker to serve another four-year term as SEC Treasurer.

In his new position, Dr. Vincent is the second in command of the 36,000-member conference, whose area covers most of Florida and parts of the South Georgia.

The Southeastern Conference, which was organized in 1981, covers the regional constituency of Florida, except for a portion west Florida of the Apalachicola River, and parts of South Georgia south of and including the following counties: Appling, Baker, Ben Hill, Jeff Davis, Mcintosh, Miller, Mitchell, Seminole, Telfair, Turner, Wayne and Worth.

Also elected to serve another four-year term were: Robert Henley was reelected Director of Communication, Technology and Interactive Media Ministries;  Elder Clarence Wright was returned as Church Ministries; Elisa Young was reelected to serve as the SEC Superintendent of Education; Elder Jean Allah Monestine was returned as the Haitian Coordinator; Dr. Lewis Edwards was reelected Director of Family Ministries.

Elder Theus Young was returned as the Director for the Conference's Publishing Ministry; Elder David Long was elected Director for Stewardship and Trust Services; Elder Cesar Robinson was elected Director of  Youth Ministries and the National Service Office; Nicole Brise retained her previous post as Director Women's Ministries and Coordinator of  Prayer Ministry. The status concerning the ABC Manager, Spanish Coordinator and Ministerial Director was referred to SEC Executive Committee.
