Health and Temperance Leader

We are excited about the fact that we will be able to communicate with you in a way that is expedient, efficient and effective. Your health is of primary importance to us because we know that without health, a thriving church community loses it impact. As Christians, waiting for the glorious return of our Lord and Savior, we need to have our bodies, minds, and souls prepared for the battle ahead. We will all be sick at some point in our lives and if we develop life lines to support and give a boost to our health, we will be better prepared to fight those battles.

Life Line #1: CHOICE
One of the greatest privileges that God gave us was the power of choice. The little choices that we make on a day-to-day basis are the same factors that will affect our health tomorrow, next year or the next decade. There are choices such as whether I will stop at the ice cream shop today or drive pass it and get a salad at McDonalds. Yes even at Mc Donald’s you can make a healthy choice. The beautiful thing about making a choice like that is the more you do, the more it will turn into a habit. Persistent habits formulate your character and a solid. In following the Bible’s admonition to prosper and be in good health; free from heart disease, diabetes and cancer, is a key benefit in making healthy choices.

Life Line #2: PRAYER
Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up.
                                                             -James 5:14-15

The science of prayer in the medical community has been proven again and again. Individuals are healed supernaturally every day as they place their petitions before the God of Heaven. The ministry of Jesus while he was on earth is a testament to the spiritual dimension to healing and restoration to fullness of health. God is willing and waiting at the door for us to let our petitions be known. He says in Jeremiah 33.3, “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and Mighty things, which you do not know.” Let us, with boldness, approach the throne of God, because He is the best mechanic for this human body machine and He is the best surgeon to divinely remove out the aches of our bodies and souls.

Life Line #3: LOVE
“I finally realized that being grateful to my body was key to giving more love to myself.”
                                                              -Oprah Winfrey

God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son to die for us. Is that love or what! He has extended this love to us in a very tangible way, called Good Health. Does that mean he does not love us when we are sick? I say absolutely not. However, we know that He gave his only begotten son who died, and he did experience hurt and pain. Looking at it from this perspective, we should always ask, how is God’s Love manifested through this? Who is in my community that is waiting to show love to me? To whom can I extend a helping hand of love to in order to make them feel healthier? As loving Christians, we need to encourage one another to pray, sing and testify of what God is doing in our lives in order to build up others in Christian love.
